Asserbos (100 hectares of centuries-old forest), there is a sustainability centre and a children's farm.

Next to our B&B is the Drentse Twijfelveld, where Napoleon is said to have been stationed. This is a 22-hectare nature reserve where you can walk among the highlanders. You can walk from the Twijfelveld to the Asserbos.

Just north of Assen is the Drentsche Golf & Country Club. With a 27-hole championship course and 9-hole Par 3 course, an unprecedented spacious and varied golf course accessible to golfers of all levels.

In addition to a beautiful flower terrace, Restaurant and Café Ponderosa also has a unique miniature golf course situated among the trees. According to fanatics one of the most challenging courses in the Netherlands.

Memorial Centre Camp Westerbork https://www.kampwesterbork.nl/

You can also see the radio observatory there, or take a walk along the Bos/Melkwegpad path, about 4 km. Where you and especially children can learn a lot about the telescopes, the secrets of the universe and about the surrounding nature. There are showcases and information panels. It begins and ends at the Westerbork Memorial Centre (Oosthalen 8, Hooghalen, 10 minutes away by car).

To finish off, we recommend getting an ice cream or something else delicious from bakery Flederus in Hooghalen.

There are many cycling and walking routes in the area. Hijkenveld for example is a beautiful area to walk but also Balloërveld, both areas have a sheepfold.

The Bospub in Lhee/Dwingeloo is in a beautiful area where you can make beautiful walks in the surroundings, Dwingelderveld. The Bospub is open in the weekends where you can pick up drinks and/or food from a counter, the so-called Bospub to go.

When the weather is nice, there are many recreational lakes in the area. The nearest is Baggelplas (6 km).

The Baggelplas area is also beautiful for walking or mountain biking.
